Edriss Pierre-Louis began his career in 1980 as a dishwasher, learning the ins and outs of the restaurant industry before working his way up to the position of busboy. He opened his own restaurant, New Season Grill & Catering, in 2009.

“I started in the lower positions,” Pierre-Louis said. “I picked up a lot of experience from both the front [and back] of the house.”

Initially, Pierre-Louis said many customers thought he only offered catering. But as word spread about the sit-in dining available, he decided to expand the restaurant by 3,000 square feet. In July the restaurant reopened with a renovated dining space as well as more menu options.

“[It’s a] unique kind of dining,” he said. “We provide international cuisine with a flair of French.”

Pierre-Louis, who was born in Haiti and immigrated to the U.S. in 1981, said the idea for his business began with his passion to serve others.

“I really enjoy being the one providing people good food, good service, and more specifically I enjoy watching people enjoying my product,” Pierre-Louis said. “I treat every catering as though it was my first.”

Items on the catering menu include hors d’oeuvres, such as bacon-wrapped water chestnuts and beef satay; salads and soups; and entrees, such as herb-crusted Tilapia. Daily lunch and weekend breakfasts are served at the restaurant, and beginning in December a themed buffet will be offered Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Pierre-Louis said he tailors the menu depending on the type of event. For instance, a family dinner calls for heavier foods, he said, while a social event such as a cocktail party requires daintier bites. His customers have included nonprofits, political candidates and churches, he said.

“We support all the organizations in the community … with whatever they do,” he said.
