Centex and Lennar Homes have begun preselling at the 175-acre Katy Crossing subdivision, which broke ground in June, said Meagan Butler, general sales manager with Centex. The subdivision is developed jointly by the two companies, she said. The new development is in the 5600 block of Katy Hockley Road. “In Katy you can’t really find anything that starts in the $160s or so,” Butler said. “We thought that there was a market that went to good schools and was still affordable.” Residents of the subdivision will be served by Bethke Elementary School, Katy Junior High School and Patow High School, Butler said. Katy Crossing will have 680 homes with 340 being built by each developer with home prices ranging from $168,000 to $227,000. The first home sales are expected to close in February with residents moving in soon after, Butler said. Centex has already sold 16 homes in the subdivision. Residents will be able to enjoy a splash pad and playground. The price point of the homes offered at Katy Crossing has made the development very successful so far, Butler said. “When people find out that you can still buy in the $160s in Katy, we’re just seeing a flock of people in Katy,” Butler said.
