Several roads in Denton are undergoing closures for utility installations and improvement projects. Check out five road closure updates around Denton. This list is not comprehensive.
Bonnie Brae Street sixth phase
Bonnie Brae Street is closed from West University Drive to Carril Al Lago Drive while crews demolish the existing southbound lanes as part of a multi-phase street improvement project. Bonnie Brae Street will receive additional lanes, a multi-use path along the roadway and improved lighting.
The city’s weekly road closure report states the road closed July 13 and is scheduled to reopen Sept. 11.
Mill overlay on Teasley Lane and Shady Oaks Drive
Portions of Teasley Lane and Shady Oaks drive from I-35E to Colorado Boulevard will close while crews replace the road’s top layer of asphalt. The work is part of the $1.7 million mill overlay package, which will replace the top layer of asphalt along specific roadways. Denton City Council approved the project and funding at an April 21 meeting.
The project on Teasley Lane and Shady Oaks Drive started in mid-July and is scheduled to be completed by July 31.
Carroll Boulevard utility installation
Lanes will be closed along Carroll Boulevard while crews install new gas lines along the roadway. The project will run from West Prairie Street to Pearl Street. The weekly road closure report states the installations started July 27 and will be completed by Sept. 4.
Donna Road utilities and reconstruction
Donna Road in northwest Denton will reopen July 31 after a roughly eight-month closure. The road received pavement and utilities replacement as part of the Neighborhood 1B bond package approved by voters in 2019.
Russell Newman Boulevard mill and overlay
Russell Newman Boulevard from Loop 288 to North Mayhill Road reopened July 17, according to the weekly street closure report. The road received a new top layer of asphalt as part of the $1.7 million mill overlay package.
