Q&A: Meet the candidates running for Texas House, District 57

Why are you running for office?

I’m running because apparently “maybe government shouldn’t be doing that” still needs someone in the room. Both parties spend plenty of time arguing over who gets to use government power. I’m more interested in whether that power should exist and whether it actually makes Texans freer, safer or better off.

What are the biggest challenges facing the city?

Growth is coming whether Austin forms a committee about it or not. We need homes, roads, water and electricity without making the district unaffordable or treating property rights as inconvenient paperwork. The challenge isn’t stopping growth. It’s making sure ordinary Texans aren’t handed the bill or shown the door.

What would your top priorities be if you are elected?

Governments should do fewer things, do them better and show their work. I’ll protect property rights, challenge unnecessary regulations, demand transparency and scrutinize spending and corporate favors. And before voting for another government solution, I’ll keep asking my favorite annoying question: “Then what?” Good intentions aren’t a performance metric.

What projects are most important for the legislature to focus on for the future of Texas?

Texas needs enough water, electricity, transportation and housing for the Texas we’re becoming, not the Texas we remember. That requires serious planning, not blank checks, corporate favors or treating eminent domain as an easy button. Build what we genuinely need, remove unnecessary barriers and respect the people already here.

Why are you running for office?

I'm running because I care. District 57 needs leadership that puts constituents first, not partisan agenda. Running for political office should be about service and solving real problems for people. I'm running because I believe in servant leadership, and District 57 deserves nothing less.

What are the biggest challenges facing the city?

District 57 faces rapid growth without adequate investment. Our roads and infrastructure are strained, schools are underfunded and rising costs are crushing families. These aren't partisan issues. They are people's issues that demand practical leadership and real solutions, regardless of party.

What would your top priorities be if you are elected?

My priorities are fully funding public schools, investing in infrastructure that keeps pace with our growth and supporting veterans and military families. Every decision will be guided by one question: Does this expand access and opportunity for more people in District 57 and across Texas?

What projects are most important for the legislature to focus on for the future of Texas?

Texas must invest in public education, plan deliberately for infrastructure and expand access to resources and opportunity for more Texans. The state has the resources. What's missing is the will to use them for people. I want to help change that.
