Candidates file for Place 1 Grapevine City Council seat


Four candidates have filed to run in the special election on Nov. 3 to fill the vacant Place 1 Grapevine City Council seat.

The filing period ended Sept. 24 and the candidates who filed are: Paul Slechta, Lee Derr, Marc Blum and Christian Ross.

The seat was left vacant following the Aug. 21 death of Mayor Pro Tem Shane C. Wilbanks.

The council approved a resolution Sept. 8 calling for the special election to fill the unexpired term.

The term for Place 1 will expire in May 2018.

Early voting begins Oct. 19 and ends Oct. 30. Early voting will be held at the The REC of Grapevine, 1175 Municipal Way, or any polling location in Tarrant County. Times are listed here.

The polls will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3. On this day, voters will vote at their precinct as designated on their Voter ID card.
