Updated at 10 p.m. According to unofficial early runoff voting results June 13, Mindy McClure has won the election for Place 1 on the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees with 54.56 percent of the votes, or 1461 votes, compared with Mark Assaad, who has 45.44 percent of the votes, or 1,217 votes. Assaad, an engineer, said he has served his community by mentoring young engineers and volunteering his time with area professional, religious and community organizations by serving on various boards. If elected he said he plans to increase opportunities for AVID, ASPIRE and STEM programs by testing students sooner for earlier enrollment; responsibly spend tax dollars; and strengthen programs for students with learning differences. McClure, who holds an English degree from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi and a law degree from Texas Tech University, said she believes her 18 years of volunteer work with GCISD would give her a perspective unique to that of other trustees. She said if elected she would use her classroom-level knowledge of the district and law degree to continue advancing the quality of GCISD’s education. All results are unofficial until canvassed. Final voting results will be canvassed June 22 during a special-called board meeting. At that time, McClure will be issued the oath of office and will begin her new term on GCISD's Board of Trustees
