Richardson ISD schools and offices will be closed Feb. 24 in preparation for a winter storm warning forecast, according to a statement.

The closure includes all evening events and activities. The district previously canceled all events, games and activities for Feb. 23 and scheduled all practices to end by 5 p.m.

The district said parents are strongly encouraged to pick up their students as quickly as possible to avoid deteriorating travel conditions.

RISD operations staff will continue to monitor updated forecasts, campus conditions and travel conditions, according to the statement. Parents will be notified if a decision is made for canceling school Feb. 25.

This storm marks the second school closure due to winter weather in three weeks. RISD previously closed school Feb. 3-4 in advance of a storm that covered the metroplex in ice and snow.
