With Staycation Coffee relocating because of an incoming apartment complex development, Richardson City Council approved modifications to the development standards at the shop's future home.

The modifications were approved following a public hearing during the Feb. 24 council meeting.

What’s happening

The coffee shop is currently located 201 S. Texas St., where it has operated since opening in 2021. It is relocating after council approved a redevelopment project that will demolish the shop's current location to make way for a 279-unit apartment complex.

Staycation’s future home is a 1,269 square foot building located at 707 S. Floyd Road, and the planned development for the property limits changes to buildings, City Planner Amber Pollan said.

The details

Modifications to the planned development include a building addition of about 450 square feet, outdoor seating, overhead shade structures, outdoor lighting, painted murals and a walk-up order window.

Technical modifications include amending the area regulations so the building doesn’t have to meet the “build-to” setback minimum, amending parking regulations for the property and amending height requirements for the building as the current planned development requires a two-story building.
