Richardson officials announced trash collection will be canceled and city facilities will be closed Jan. 16 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday.

City officials said there will be no solid waste, recycling, or brush and bulky item collection service provided Jan. 16 with no makeup days set for trash or bulky item collection. Richardson will make up recycling on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18.

Richardson is planning on closing six city facilities for the Jan. 16 holiday, including the animal shelter. Richardson residents are advised to contact the city’s Response Center at 972-744-4111 to report nonemergency animal-related issues.

Other city facilities closing on the Jan. 16 holiday include the Charles W. Eisemann Center, the Richardson Public Library, the Richardson Municipal Court, the Richardson Innovation Quarter Headquarters and the Richardson Service Center. In addition, temporary City Hall services that had been provided at the municipal court will also be closed Jan. 16.

Six city facilities will remain open on the Jan. 16 holiday, including the Richardson Gymnastics Center, the Richardson Senior Center, the Tennis Center, the Huffhines and the Heights recreation centers, and the Sherrill Park Golf Course.
