A new alcohol-free speakeasy, Snug Space, is now open in Richardson.

Snug Space is founded by Julie and Reid Robinson, the owners of Beyond the Bar, an alcohol-free bottle shop that opened last year in Richardson, in partnership with Andrea and Jennifer Benningfield. The business is in a space connected to Beyond the Bar.

Snug Space is modeled after “snugs,” which were Victorian speakeasies where women would go for a drink.

Currently, the new Snug Space is open Saturday evenings from 8-11 p.m., but there are plans to expand the operating hours as business picks up, Julie Robinson said. The space will host several events each month, including sober karaoke the fourth Saturday of each month.

She said there are also plans to add live music or DJs within Snug Space. Julie Robinson added that there are plans to curate a mini art gallery within the Snug Space with the first decor featuring items from Dallas antique dealer and art gallery Curiosities.
