Multiple new pieces of equipment will be used to help keep up maintenance for the city of Celina’s roads.

The details

Celina City Council members approved five purchases totaling $572,131 for various equipment for the city’s street department during an Oct. 8 meeting. The new equipment will allow Celina’s street department to do many of the repairs and various maintenance work themselves, according to meeting documents. For example, the bucket truck will allow city staff to fix streetlights, signage or school zone flashers without calling a third party company.

Some of the equipment is for proactive construction, including the cement crack sealer, which can be used to reseal roads to prevent water intrusion.

Other equipment, such as the arrow board trailers, is for residents navigating through active construction zones. The arrow boards approved in the purchase include sending real-time alerts to motorists to give them more time to change lanes ahead of a closure, according to meeting documents.

Funding for all of the purchases is available through Celina’s fiscal year 2024-25 budget.
