Take a look at two road-related projects coming to Celina.

The breakdown

A concrete alleyway planned to go behind the Granny’s Bakery on Colorado Street is in its design phase, city staff said.

The new alley will run between Pecan Street and Beech Street, and is part of the overall Downtown Inner Loop project, according to an update at a Feb. 13 Celina City Council meeting.

“We’re putting in the beginnings of an alley,” Assistant City Manager Kim Brawner said.

Building the alley is expected to cost $73,588 and should take approximately 18 days once designs are finished, according to meeting documents. The project is part of the overall Downtown Inner Loop project.

What else?

Construction to install flower beds along a section of Preston Road should start this fall, officials said. The project is partially funded by a $600,000 grant from the Texas Department of Transportation and $700,000 in park fees, Parks and Recreation Director Cody Webb said.

Celina City Council members awarded the bid during a March 7 meeting.
