Medical City Healthcare has purchased 13 CommunityMed urgent care centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to a news release.
The purchase includes two locations in Prosper.
What’s changing?
The former CommunityMed locations will be absorbed into CareNow Urgent Care, Medical City Healthcare’s urgent care brand.
All CommunityMed staff members at the purchased locations “in good standing” now work for Medical City Healthcare, according to the Feb. 2 news release.
CommunityMed will continue to maintain and transfer medical records for former patients, according to the CommunityMed website.
More details
Urgent care clinics treat minor illnesses and injuries which are time-sensitive but not severe enough to require a visit to a hospital emergency room.
“The locations are strategically located in communities underserved by urgent care,” Medical City Healthcare said in the release.
The new locations will join Prosper’s existing CareNow clinics at 781 S. Preston Road and 4530 W. University Drive.
