Celina officials are scheduled to discuss plans for a three-building assisted living community and an $11.4 million construction contract for a new fire station.

City Council could vote on the Fire Station No. 4 construction contract Oct. 14. The Planning and Zoning Commission will hear plans on the assisted living community Oct. 16.

The details

Fire Station No. 4 will provide coverage for people on the east side of Celina when completed.

In 2024, council approved a contract with Crossland Construction to build the station, but more features have been added since. These changes increased construction costs from $9 million to about $11.4 million.

The 15,725 square-foot station will include:
  • three bays
  • a training tower
  • individual dorms
City officials have said they hope Fire Station No. 4 will serve as a model for future fire stations.

What else?

The assisted living community could sit on 9 acres of land that will have to be annexed into the city and rezoned for it to be built. If approved, the community would be built on both sides of future Legacy Drive near future J Fred Smith Parkway.

Two three-story buildings with 142 units would go on the west side of Legacy Drive and include indoor and outdoor amenities.

The east side of Legacy could have a two-story building with 55 units and onsite staff for daily care and limited medical needs.

The Planning and Zoning Commission will recommend whether or not to move forward with the project at its Oct. 16 meeting. If the plans are given a recommendation of approval, they will go to council for a decision at its Nov. 11 meeting.
