The town of Prosper has 634 acres of park land, 52 miles of trails, 19 playgrounds, and dozens of sports fields and recreational facilities—and residents can help guide what comes next.

A survey for residents to offer ideas and input related to updating Prosper’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan is now open, according to a town news release. Residents can access the survey here before it closes May 19.

Some background

The master plan is a comprehensive blueprint charting the expansion, development and programming for the next 5-10 years, according to the release. The last plan was completed in 2015.

Prosper Town Council members approved a contract with consulting firm Dunaway Associates in January to help assess the town’s recreation programs and make recommendations for program enhancements.

The residential survey is a crucial part of the planning process, Parks and Recreation Director Dan Baker said in the release.

“Town staff need to know what types of park and recreation facilities Prosper’s residents want for their future,” Baker said. “The more information we get from residents, the better we can plan our future funding and development strategies.”

Going forward

Additional survey information can be found on the town’s parks website and will be sent to residents in the mail. Here are some things residents should keep in mind:
  • Limit answers to one response per household.
  • Participants will be included in a randomly selected prize drawing with gift cards from a variety of sources, such as Amazon and the downtown Prosper merchants.
