From updating the town’s “no-thru” truck routes to approving public safety purchases, here are four actions taken by Prosper Town Council members in 2023.

1. Updated the town’s routes prohibiting trucks

Prosper Town Council members unanimously approved an ordinance amending the town’s “no-thru” truck routes during a Nov. 28 meeting.

2. Maintained the town’s property tax rate

Council members approved a $102.28 million appropriations budget and a $0.51 per $100 valuation tax rate during a Sept. 12 meeting. Prosper’s fiscal year 2023-24 budget will help push the town toward its overall strategic vision, officials said.

3. Allocated $563K for new public safety equipment

Prosper Town Council members approved various public safety-related contracts totaling about $563,330 during a Nov. 14 meeting. The contracts allocated money toward renewing records contracts, new vehicles and more.

4. Brought a Dream Court to a local park

The Prosper Town Council approved a $75,000 contract with Nancy Lieberman Charities for a Dream Court to be installed at the Tanner’s Mill Park basketball court during a Sept. 26 meeting. The $75,000 contract was half of the total $150,000 installation cost. The new court was presented to the community in early November.
