Prosper residents could see construction on a $19.8 million parks project begin in the new year.

Prosper Town Council members heard an update on Raymond Community Park progress during an Oct. 24 meeting.

The details

The park, located at the intersection of Coit Road and East First Street, is expected to include:
  • Lighted baseball fields
  • Pickleball and tennis courts
  • Playground space
  • Trails
  • Multiuse fields
There is a chance some features might be reduced—such as having one court instead of multiple—due to rising labor and construction costs, Parks and Recreation Director Dan Baker said.

“Our plan is to keep as much of what's programmed for that park in place,” Baker said. “It may be just slightly reduced.”

The baseball fields will not see any changes even if the plans are updated, he said.

“Obviously, we're not going to touch the baseball field complex,” Baker said.

The breakdown

Bidding for the park will be split into two packages, according to a meeting presentation.
  • Site preparation was sent out to bid Oct. 16.
  • Site development is set to be sent out to bid Jan. 3, 2024.
Council should receive bids on the site preparation in mid-November, Baker said.

“While the second package is out to bid, we’re already moving on the first,” he said.

Going forward

Park construction is expected to take 15 months and is slated to begin in January or February 2024, according to the meeting presentation. It should open in spring 2025.
