Celina ISD is partnering with Cook Children’s Medical Center-Prosper—bringing new health care services to its students.

Students at CISD campuses will have access to Cook Children’s Virtual Health program through the school nurse’s office. This allows students to be diagnosed for common illnesses such as fevers, earaches, rashes, sore throat and pink eye, according to an Aug. 6 news release.

“Cook Children’s has cared for generations of children across North Texas, just as Celina ISD has shaped their minds and futures,” CISD Superintendent Thomas Maglisceau said in the release. “Together, we’re ensuring every student is both well-educated and well-cared for.”

As part of the partnership, primary care providers will receive communication after the Cook Children’s visit with prescription support and visit summaries. Any necessary prescriptions will be sent to a family’s preferred pharmacy and a school excuse note will be provided by the time a parent arrives to pick up their child, according to the release.

The partnership will embed high-quality pediatric care into the lives of nearly 6,000 students in one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas, the release stated.

“As two organizations committed to putting children first, this partnership represents a natural alignment,” said Kevin Greene, president of Cook Children’s Medical Center-Prosper. “We’re honored to partner with Celina ISD in our continued promise: everything for the child.”
