Prosper ISD adjusts attendance zones for 2025-26 school year


The boundaries for elementary, middle school and high schools will shift as the district is opening four new schools in the next school year. This includes Jana Thomson Elementary, Virgie Smotherman Elementary, Pete Moseley Middle and Richland High. Prosper ISD approves 2025-26 academic calendar


After receiving parent and teacher feedback, PISD officials approved the academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year. The calendar includes 85 days in the fall semester and 86 days in the spring semester. The first day of school will be Aug. 12, 2025.

Prosper ISD receives ‘A’ for financial management from state

District officials received an A from the Texas Education Agency for their financial management during fiscal year 2022-23. Out of a possible score of 100, PISD received a 94. The Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, also called FIRST, is issued by the TEA and measures the quality of a district’s reporting and management of finances. The rating is based on a number of factors, including revenue against expenses, cash on hand and administrative costs.

Prosper ISD sets maximum price for 7th, 8th middle schools


Middle School No. 7’s price is set for $113.77 million, while Middle School No. 8 will be $114.32 million. Both schools were included in the district's 2019 bond program. The district’s seventh middle school will be northwest of the Legacy Gardens neighborhood located off of Legacy Drive. Middle School No. 8 will be located on the northeast side of the district at the corner of Custer Road and Frontier Parkway. The eighth middle school costs more as its site includes room for a future elementary school.

Celina ISD

Celina ISD voters approve tax rate election

CISD voters have approved the Celina ISD tax rate election with the proposition receiving 54.56% of votes in favor. The VATRE established a tax rate of $1.2358 per $100 valuation. This is broken down between $0.7869 for maintenance and operations and $0.4489 for debt payments.


Celina ISD offers pathway to teacher certification through university partnership

Starting this school year, the district partnered with Abilene Christian University to offer a fully online degree program and professional development pathways for educators and teachers in the Celina area. The partnership is designed to provide instructional aides, who currently hold associate degrees, with the opportunity to complete their bachelor’s degree and obtain a teaching certificate. This will help fill the pipeline for teachers as the district grows. The district is also pursuing a partnership with Lamar National Bank to offer a deferred low-interest loan to employees enrolled in the associate teacher program.

Frisco ISD

Frisco ISD to open enrollment for area students in 2025-26 school year


Frisco ISD is opening up some of its campuses for students who live outside the district. Access Frisco will allow kindergarten through seventh grade students from surrounding areas to attend Frisco ISD schools starting in the 2025-26 school year. Opening campuses up for outside enrollment will help fill classrooms with low enrollment. The district has about 900 open seats available across all the campuses in the kindergarten through seventh grade window. Applications received by the district’s priority deadline will be entered into a lottery pool. Priority applications will be accepted from Dec. 16-Jan. 10. Regular applications are open from Jan. 14-24.
