Middle School No. 7’s price is set for $113.77 million, while Middle School No. 8 will be $114.32 million. Both schools were included in the district's 2019 bond program.
The specifics
The district’s seventh middle school will be northwest of the Legacy Gardens neighborhood located off of Legacy Drive, Deputy Superintendent Greg Bradley said during an Oct. 21 meeting. The middle school will have a 1,500 student capacity.
The project is below the district's anticipated budget as a 15% price escalation was expected but Bradley said inflation has dropped slightly.
Middle School No. 8 will be located on the northeast side of the district at the corner of Custer Road and Frontier Parkway. The eighth middle school costs more as its site includes room for a future elementary school, Bradley said.
The middle school is going on the back portion of the land, so there is a higher cost for concrete as longer roads have to be built, he said. The district is also preparing driveways for future expansion with the elementary school.
Both middle schools are expected to open in the 2026-27 school year.
