Prosper ISD officials previewed a potential attendance zone for Richland High School as the school is expected to open for the 2025-26 school year.

The gist

Richland High is located on the west side of the district and is proposed to open with ninth and 10th grade students, Deputy Superintendent Greg Bradley said during a May 20 board meeting.

There are cost benefits to opening with only the two grades, including staffing and construction savings, Bradley said. The school will also feature unique career and technical programs that will be difficult for seniors to take advantage of with only one year in the school, he said.

Richland High is expected to open with about 1,050 students.
The background

The west side of PISD is growing rapidly, Bradley said.

Prosper High is expected to have 3,700 students in the 2024-25 school year. Moving freshman and sophomore students to Richland High in the 2025-26 school year will provide relief to the campus, he said.
Along with Richland High, several campuses are expected to open in PISD in the 2025-26 school year, including:
  • Elementary School No. 19
  • Elementary School No. 20
  • Moseley Middle School
District officials are still working on zoning plans for the future middle and elementary schools, Bradley said.

Stay tuned

Prosper ISD is holding a feedback meeting on the proposed changes June 5 at 6 p.m. in the Prosper High School cafeteria. Families will hear a more detailed presentation and have time to speak with district officials.

“We want to hear from the community on this,” Bradley said.

The district’s board of trustees will take the feedback into consideration before the final attendance boundary plan is presented at the June 17 board meeting.
