Prosper ISD officials have taken a step toward increasing the student capacity at two of its middle schools before the start of the next school year.

The district’s board of trustees approved the guaranteed maximum price for classroom additions at Reynolds and Rogers middle schools Feb. 19. This allows no more than $4.3 million to be spent on the project at Reynolds Middle School, and no more than $3.1 million to be spent on the Rogers Middle School project.

The additional classrooms will increase student capacity at the middle schools, Deputy Superintendent Greg Bradley said.

“We are working feverishly to get some additional classrooms open,” he said.

The specifics

Reynolds Middle will have six classrooms added to its campus, while four our classrooms will be added to the academic wing of Rogers Middle. The district hopes to break ground quickly and have the classrooms finished by Aug. 1 for the start of the 2024-25 school year, Bradley said.

Also on the agenda

The board approved contracts for the construction of a maintenance building and small agricultural barn totaling $7.7 million. The maintenance building will be located next to Reynolds Middle. The small agricultural barn will be built next to the district’s current barn and will house swine and sheep, Bradley said.

The projects are expected to break ground in March and be completed by the end of 2024, he said.
