Local business Swirls Bakery has rebranded and will open as The Wick in early 2024. The Wick is slated to open by March 2024 in a new downtown Celina space, owner Kim Wickliffe said. The Wick will also serve lunch meals, shareable plates and have a happy hour with craft cocktails, she said.Honey Creek Venues

A nearly 30-acre venue is opening in Celina in late spring. Honey Creek Venues is slated to open in its 26-acre venue space in May, co-owner Erin Ducharme said. Designed to host events, such as weddings, the venue space will feature multiple buildings, ready suites, a prep kitchen, ceremony sites and garden spaces, Ducharme said.​​1876 Country Club

Plans for the country club are underway at the Legacy Hills property, a 3,200-acre planned development that broke ground in April 2022, according to a Nov. 14 news release from Sunwest Communications.Lowe’s

The home improvement store is coming soon to The Crossing at Moore Farm, a mixed-use development along Preston Road in Celina, according to signage in the area. The project’s timeline is unknown, and Lowes did not respond to a request for comment. Lowe’s specializes in home improvement goods and sells tools, appliances and more.

Celina Economic Development Corporation executive director

The Celina EDC board of directors approved a separation agreement with Executive Director Alexis Jackson during a Dec. 5 meeting, according to a statement from EDC President Clint Bissett. Director of Marketing and Tourism Melissa Thomas will serve as interim director through the corporation’s January meeting, according to the statement.First State Bank

The bank, which operates another location in Celina at 520 E. Ash St., will offer services such as checking and saving accounts, loans, wealth management, and more. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction is expected to begin in August 2024 and finish in April 2025.
