The city of Plano’s annual Memorial Day event will not be held this year as a precaution against the spread of the coronavirus.

City spokesperson Steve Stoler said the Sunset at Memorial Park would not be held May 25 as originally scheduled.

“Please remember those who gave the last measure of service and devotion to secure the freedoms we continue to enjoy,” a message on the event’s web page reads.

The event is usually held at Plano Veterans Memorial Park, located southwest of where Spring Creek Parkway meets Custer Road.
