Collin County cities were some of the top contributors to regional population growth from 2018-19, according to a North Central Texas Council of Governments report.
Frisco and McKinney respectively ranked No. 3 and No. 4 for population growth in 2018, according to the report, which was published in April. Celina, Richardson and Prosper each ranked in the top 10 for regional contributors to population growth.
Brian Lister, a senior research data analyst at NCTCOG, said the North Texas population growth continues to trend northward.
The report includes cities in counties within NCTCOG’s coverage area, which includes Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties. Those four counties each added more than 25,000 people last year, making up 83% of regional growth, according to the report.
The overall Collin County population surpassed 1 million people in 2018, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
