The city of Plano announced Wednesday that recycling services have resumed after a fire destroyed the previous facility late last month.

Republic Services will process the city's recycling at a temporary site until it arranges a permanent solution, according to a press release.

On Dec. 28, a fire broke out at Republic Services, located at 4200 14th St. in Plano. This location served as a drop-off point for the city’s recyclable materials, and was a total loss, according to city officials.

The city had advised residents to continue putting out their recyclable waste as usual during the last two weeks, during which time the city collected it as trash and deposited it in a landfill, city spokesman Steve Stoler said. This amounted to about 90 tons per day, he said.
