Residents interested in weighing in on the proposed fiscal year 2023-24 budget and short-term rentals will have the opportunity at two separate meetings Aug. 22 and Aug. 23, respectively.

What you need to know

A town hall meeting on the proposed budget will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Plano Municipal Center. The agenda for the meeting shows an item for a presentation by Director of Budget and Research Karen Rhodes-Whitley, and a question and answer item.

The budget and proposed tax rate will be subject to a public hearing during the Sept. 11 meeting.

Residents will also be able to provide feedback, learn more about the city’s Short-Term Rental Task Force and learn about the study’s process during a short-term rental open house from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 23 at Event1013. The open house will also allow staff to showcase the city’s short-term rental study, according to a city news release.

For those unable to attend the meeting, an online open house will be held until Aug. 30. More information about the Short-Term Rental Task Force is available on its dedicated website.
