Why are you running for PISD board of trustees?

I've made the decision to run for Plano ISD board of trustees because I believe that I can make a significant impact and effect greater change if I am at the table where the decisions are made.

Why are you qualified for this position?

As a parent and educator, I have had the opportunity to see almost every aspect of PISD's school operations. Through one child, I was able to see the sports programs. Through another, the special-education programs. And with my third child, I am seeing the advanced academic placement programs. Currently, working as a professor at the DCCCD and a long-time substitute in PISD, I get to do what I enjoy— teach. In addition, to doing what I enjoy, as a substitute, I can visit many campuses in PISD, and that opportunity awards me great knowledge. I can see first-hand any needs that a campus might need to be stronger.

If elected, what will you focus on?

Some of my primary areas of focus will be to improve racial balance in advanced placement programs, increase community involvement, increase parental involvement and targeted emphasis on teacher recruitment.
