The 11th annual North Texas Giving Day is set to take place Sept. 19. Organized by Communities Foundation of Texas, North Texas Giving Day benefits 20 regional counties over an 18-hour online giving period. The goal is to create awareness and support for nonprofits while also making it easy for donors to give. In 2018, more than $48 million was raised for more than 2,700 regional nonprofits, according to the Communities Foundation website. The public can also participate in North Texas Giving Day by attending events across the region. In Plano, the North Texas Performing Arts Celebration Station at The Shops at Willow Bend will be held Sept. 14 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The event includes a performance by North Texas Performing Arts, contests, art activities, face painting and opportunities to give to the 50 nonprofits taking part in the event.  Farmstead Yoga will take place Sept. 19 from 5:30-8 p.m. A yoga session will be held from 6-7 p.m. The rest of the evening will include music, food, drinks and wagon rides. There will also be a variety of contests, including pie eating, rooster crowing and hog calling. Attendees are invited to make a donation. Scheduled giving is open now through Sept. 18. Plano has 170 Plano-based nonprofits participating in this year’s fundraising drive. A full list can be found on the Communities Foundation website.
