North Texas Performing Arts is hosting a global online talent contest to raise money during coronavirus-related shutdowns that have disrupted the organization's stage performances.

The contest is open to participants of all ages from anywhere in the world and is free for adult artists.

“In light of the COVID-19 crisis, we know that many adult artists have lost jobs,” the organization said.

Online applications are being accepted through April 12 on the organization’s website.

“Participants and audiences are encouraged to give generously and not share ticket access information with those that have not purchased a ticket,” the organization said on its website.

Child contestants will be charged $20 per entry; adult artists who have the means are asked to donate if they can.

Winners of the competition will receive cash prizes and North Texas Performing Arts scholarships.

North Texas Performing Arts is based in Plano at The Shops at Willow Bend Mall.
