Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s $1.89 million commuter rail that connects Plano, Richardson and five other North Texas cities to the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is open.

The Silver Line launched on Oct. 25. The 26-mile commuter rail has been in DART’s plans for nearly two decades.

DART CEO Nadine Lee called the Silver Line’s opening the “realization of a promise kept to our riders and our region.”

The specifics

To celebrate the Silver Line’s launch, the train is free to ride through Nov. 8.

DART also hosted grand opening ceremonies at all 10 stations along the Silver Line on Oct. 25.

The Silver Line stretches from the DFW Airport in Grapevine to Shiloh Road in Plano, with two stations in Plano and Richardson. The line also has stops in Dallas, Addison and Carrollton.

“We're staying focused, we're investing wisely, strengthening partnerships and delivering projects that will stand the test of time,” Lee said. “The Silver Line represents that focus. It’s proof that when we plan carefully and work collaboratively, we can build something lasting that improves lives every single day.”
