Plano City Council approved a contract that will help with removing litter from parks and trails in the city during its Jan. 9 meeting.
Plano Parks and Recreation awarded the $625,330 contract to Lawn Star Landscape for the removal of litter at high-use park and athletic sites, smaller neighborhood parks, high-traffic public buildings and miles of trails in the city, according to the agenda item.
The contract’s service area includes 94 sites, including 2,000 service acres, 1,300 receptacles and nearly 100 miles of trails.
Volunteer cleanups normally cover the areas not included in the contract, according to a news release from the city. The city’s parks and recreation department partnered with the city’s environmental health and sustainability department and Volunteers in Plano program for 34 community cleanup events in 2022.
