There are several events and activities happening throughout August for Plano residents to check out.

Aug. 24: Rock out at a concert

Southern rock band Black Stone Cherry will perform at the Lexus Box Garden at Legacy Hall. Earlier this year the band revealed their new song, “Out of Pocket,” which is their first single since their 2020 album, “The Human Condition.” Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy craft cocktails and food from 20 eateries.Aug. 25-Sept. 2: See a Broadway show by kids

Broadway Junior, producer of kid-sized versions of popular musicals, will perform “Mean Girls Jr.” at the Courtyard Theater. The show is based on the hit Broadway musical, which was based on the 2004 movie.Aug. 30: Support your local soccer club

The Lexus Box Garden at Legacy Hall will host a watch party for FC Dallas’ game against St. Louis City SC. Seating is first come, first served, so registration does not guarantee access. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to come early.Aug. 31: Learn about Japanese rock gardens


Learn about the history and philosophy of Japanese rock gardens at the Davis Library. Attendees will learn to identify features and look at various rock gardens around the world before making a miniature rock garden to take home for themselves. Tickets are available 30 minutes before the event begins.Sept. 3: Go to a Labor Day Weekend Luau

Residents can wrap their summer up at Legacy Hall’s fourth annual Labor Day weekend luau at the Lexus Box Garden at Legacy Hall. The event will include hula performances with fire dancers and drummers, a limbo competition, and a pig roast along with tiki-themed cocktails and live music.Sept. 5: Attend a pool party

The Texas Pool will celebrate the last days of summer with a Labor Day pool party. Coolers with food and nonalcoholic beverages are allowed.Sept. 8: Get scared

Dark Hour Escape will host its Monster Club Misadventures escape room series at Dark Hour Haunted House. Guests will be tasked with finding a lost friend in this escape experience. The game will require two to six players age 6 or older, and at least one must be able to stoop and crawl. Players between ages 6-15 must be accompanied by an adult. The event will contain strobe lights, sudden noises and latex props. All games are private, and parties will not be mixed together.Sept. 13: Clear the mind


Sahaja Yoga Meditation will host a 10-minute guided meditation session at Liberty Recreation Center. Sahaja Yoga is a unique method focused on self-realization that can foster positive life changes, including stress relief, peace of mind, and overall sense of well-being and better health, according to the organization. Experienced instructors will help attendees learn and master meditation techniques with sessions for beginners to those who are more advanced. Walk-ins will be welcomed, and yoga mats will not be required.

Sept. 15-24: Catch a show

The Art Centre Theatre will host a performance of "Beyond the Surface," an original production about a man who must decide whether to forgive the person responsible for his brother’s death. The show is family-friendly, but may not be suitable for photosensitive individuals.
