The details
The two-year, six-semester program will offer students classroom, lab and clinical experience, according to the release. The program will operate at the Frisco campus in a former dance studio, which has been transformed into a health sciences lab.
Michelle Millen, dean of academic affairs and workforce at Collin College’s McKinney campus, said the location will allow students to “immerse themselves” in the field.
“The city of Frisco has a tremendous sports and physical therapy presence,” Millen said in a statement. “We are so fortunate to have this space available at the Frisco campus so we can centralize this program right in the heart of the industry,”
Millen added that Collin College’s rehabilitation aide program, which launched at the college's technical campus in Allen in 2020, would allow students to “test the waters before they fully commit to physical therapy.”
The rehabilitation aide program is a partnership with several local school districts, and functions as a dual credit pathway allowing high school students to begin taking classes in the program.
“Now they can continue that path with our new Physical Therapist Assisting program,” Millen said.
