The city of Plano’s population became more diverse over the last five years, according to newly released US Census data.

The gist

The majority of Plano’s population—around 53.2%—identifies as white. The white population decreased by more than 4,000 in the city from 2018-23.

Plano's Asian population is the second most populous race in the city, and the city's Asian population increased by nearly 8,000 from 2018-23.

The U.S. Census Bureau released new five-year data for 2023 on Dec. 12 as part of its American Community Survey, or ACS. The new data represents a five-year estimate of the population across the country from 2019 to 2023, according to the Census website.
