The city of McKinney has teamed up with Data Shredding Services to host a free document shredding event this Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., or when truck is full, at McKinney High School, 1400 Wilson Creek Pkwy.

Shredding can help residents prevent identify theft and fraud by securely disposing of bills, statements and other personal documents. All of the documents collected Saturday will be shredded on-site and recycled.

Each resident is limited to four boxes of papers to shred. Spiral notebooks, hanging folders, staples and paper clips are accepted, but three-ring binders, office bull clips and any other metal or plastic fasteners are not. The event will take items until 1 p.m. or until the truck is full. This event is limited to residents of McKinney only; businesses are not eligible to participate.
