In the Republican primary race for State Representative District 64, Myra Crownover received the nod by a close margin against Read King with a total of 6,001 votes to King's 4,937, according to unofficial voting results from the Denton County Elections Office.
With all 44 precincts reporting, Crownover had an early lead but King stayed close by throughout the night. Crownover finished with 54.86 percent of the vote, followed by King with 45.14 percent of the vote.
State Representative District 64 covers Denton county and Crownover will face Democrat Emy Lyons in the November general election.

In the Republican primary race for State Representative District 64, Myra Crownover leads Read King with 56.69 percent of the vote, based on unofficial early voting totals from the Denton County Elections Office.
Candidate Read King is looking to replace incumbent Myra Crownover, who is seeking her eighth term.
A total of 6,767 voters cast ballots during early voting. Crownover received 3,836 votes and King received 2,931 votes. State Representative District 64 covers Denton county and the winner will face Democrat Emy Lyons in the November general election.
