A long flyover, one of the largest, most visible portions of the DFW Connector project opens Saturday morning, relieving some of the congestion on William D. Tate Avenue in Grapevine, said Lesha Holt of NorthGate Constructors.

The swooping eastbound Hwy. 114 flyover to southbound Hwy. 121 is the longest bridge on the project at 3,700 feet. Its opening means better access to north Grapevine.

The William D. Tate ramp to 121 will be closed permanently — drivers will access southbound 121 from the flyover, or can use the ramp at Hall Johnson Road.

The second big flyover, northbound Hwy. 121 to westbound Hwy. 114, is scheduled to open this spring, Holt said.

The $985 million Connector project is a year ahead of schedule and should be completed by July.
