Republican incumbent U.Sl Rep. Kenny Marchant had about 60 percent of the vote in Denton County and about 68 percent in Tarrant County in unofficial returns late Tuesday, appearing to retain his seat in U.S. House District 24.

Marchant's closest opponent was Democrat Tim Rusk in both counties. Libertarian Joohn Stathas trailed both.

The district roughly straddles the Tarrant and Dallas county lines and includes a piece of Denton County. Marchant had about 55 percent of the vote in Dallas County after all precincts reported.

Also in Denton County, incumbent Republican Michael Burgess appeared to keep his seat in U.S. House District, 26, which includes Colleyville. He had collected about 67 percent of the vote. His opponents were Democrat David Sanchez and Libertarian Mark Boler.

U.S. House terms are for two years.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.
