Spirit Airlines passengers at DFW International Airport should add an extra five minutes to get to the gate, with the airline's temporary move to the newly opened Terminal E Satellite.

US Airways will move to the satellite in May. Both changes are a result of the massive, $1.9 billion renovation at the airport, a seven-year project that began in 2010.

Spirit and US Airways are making the shift because of work on the main sections of Terminal E.

The satellite, which will have concessions including Starbucks, Dickey's Barbecue and Freshens, can be reached from Gate E-21 via an underground tunnel with moving walkways.

Spirit's departures mark the first passenger service at the satellite since 2005. It has been modernized as part of the overall airport renovation.
