Southlake's Town Square at the corner of Carroll Avenue and FM 1709 is home to approximately 120 retail stores and restaurants. In addition to shopping and dining, visitors can attend a City Council meeting in town hall or visit a post office.

Now the Southlake Historical Society has plans to show how the development came to be. The society on Monday will host "The Making of Town Square," an event featuring former Southlake Mayor Rick Stacy and Frank Bliss, president of Sqare developer Cooper & Stebbins, who will both explain the history and vision behind Southlake Town Square.

Photographs, including of the groundbreaking ceremony and ribbon cutting, will be shown.

"Anyone who wants to relive all that went into making Town Square and people who are new to the area and maybe don't know or remember the events that led up to Town Square, would really enjoy it," said Connie Cooley, vice president of the Southlake Historical Society.

The event begins 7 p.m. Monday, April 16 in the third floor meeting room at Southlake Town Hall, 1400 Main St. in Southlake.
