Grapevine's Walmart Supercenter will become the regional hub for maintenance within the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Grapevine City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission approved a conditional-use permit Feb. 21 to allow for the installation of two metal shipping containers and 8 foot fence at 1601 W. SH 114.

The containers will be 40 feet in length, 8 feet wide and 8 feet in height; one will be used for maintenance equipment and the other for storing parts for refrigeration equipment maintenance.

There will also be two spaces designated for two pickup trucks with landscaping trailers.

Those trucks would be screened in by an 8-foot-tall wooden fence. The total project will be 5,000 square feet, according to city documents.

The changes will reduce 20 parking spots, but Walmart will still be within the city parking requirements.

The location of the construction will be on the south side of the building near the train tracks. 817-421-4770. www.walmart.com/store/266-grapevine-tx
