The city of McKinney is gearing up for summer by launching its summer reading program and by opening both public pools.

McKinney libraries present summer reading programs

The McKinney Public Library System is encouraging literacy in adults and children during the “Reading Gives You Superpowers” summer reading program beginning in June.

Kick-off events for the summer reading program will be held at both libraries on June 5 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Roy & Helen Memorial Library and from 3:30–5 p.m. at the John & Judy Gay Library.

Children can explore emergency vehicles from the city of McKinney Police and Fire Departments at each event. Participants receive a summer reading log, information about library programs and other goodies.
