Following her election party, which was held at the historic Flour Mill in downtown McKinney, newly elected at large Council Member Tracy Rath said she awoke humbled this morning after being surrounded by supporters as unofficial results announced her victory.

"I am very humbled and ready to get to work," she said. "I was nervous until the very end. I had a fantastic group of volunteers texting, email and dropping by homes so we never stopped making sure we could get our voters out to the polls until the very last minute."

Rath said she plans to spend her early time on the council listening, learning and getting caught up on the issues facing the city.

"I have been spending more time running for office than I have listening to council meetings and going to board meetings so I am anxious to jump right into that this week," she said. "There are several meetings on the agenda that I would like to attend as an observer. I am truly excited to get started and thrilled beyond measure."

About the council seats

District 4 is located in the western portion of the city and is bordered by Coit Road, Eldorado Parkway, FM 1461 and Ridge Road.

Branch is the owner of Valiant Services Texas. Branch said if elected he would create a plan to determine the best industries to bring to the city that will provide the highest property tax revenue, high-paying jobs and high sales tax revenue.

Ruiz is a facilities engineering manager at Texas Instruments and has been on the Stonebridge Ranch Homeowners Association board of directors for 10 years. If elected Ruiz said he would focus on finding a new city manager while also working to attract new businesses that will create jobs, increase revenue and ease the tax burden on homeowners.

The at large seat represents the entire city.

Campbell is a civil engineer who said if elected he would focus on keeping McKinney great by developing it in an economically sustainable way.

Rath is the former executive director of the Minuteman Disaster Response Foundation. Rath said if elected she would focus on finding a city manager, updating the city’s comprehensive land use and water plans, and help pass a bond election that will provide essential infrastructure with no tax increase.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.
