The city of McKinney and Collin County have both pitched in to fund construction extending Bloomdale Road west from Community Avenue to County Road 164. Construction is expected to begin in February, according to the city.

Bloomdale currently runs between Laud Howell Parkway and Community Avenue, but once complete, Bloomdale will stretch from Laud Howell to CR 164.

Bloomdale will also be widened from a two- to a four-lane divided roadway, and a bridge will be constructed to allow traffic to cross over the small lake located west of Community.

The finished roadway will also offer a direct connection to US 75 from FM CR 164. •Early phases of construction are not expected to have any immediate impacts on traffic, according to Nick Ataie, Capital Improvements Manager for the city of McKinney.
