Republican candidate Briana Andor is running for the Collin County commissioner Precinct 3 seat. She will run against Darrell Hale in the March Republican primary election. Community Impact Newspaper sent Andor a series of questions on her candidacy. Her written responses, edited for publication style, are below. Q: What is your current occupation? A: I am the owner and principal doctor at Andor Chiropractic in McKinney. Q: Why are you running for Precinct 3 commissioner? A: I am running to continue to serve my community. We need to keep taxes low, manage growth by planning ahead for the needs of our expanding population and focus on public safety. We need to get the county and local city governments on the same page. I believe I’m the best-suited candidate to achieve these goals. I love Collin County. My family and I have deep roots here, especially in Precinct 3. I attended school in McKinney, [including] Valley Creek Elementary [and] McKinney High. As a lifelong McKinney resident I have seen many changes, and we need conservative leadership to guide us into the future. I want Collin County to be a place my children and grandchildren want to live. They will want to live here because we have created the proper infrastructure to support our population increase, maintained low taxes and ensured our exceptional quality of life. Q: Why are you qualified for this position? A: I am a doctor, small-business owner, lifelong McKinney resident and a 15-year Republican grass-roots leader. Q: What issues do you feel the county will face over the next five years? A: Collin County is experiencing unprecedented growth. With this [growth] comes needs for increased infrastructure and public safety. Q: If elected, how will you address those issues? A: Managing and staying ahead of growth. Almost 80 people move to Collin County every day. Welcoming our new neighbors is important, but so is working to maintain our quality of life. This means proactively planning for future transportation needs. Additionally, Sheriff [Jim] Skinner will need additional resources soon, including the possible expansion of the county jail. Finally, we must look forward to working with the North Texas Municipal Water District to ensure long-term availability of water for our growing area.
