Collin County Transit, a partnership with the city of McKinney, the McKinney Urban Transit District and Denton County Transportation Authority, expanded its service hours to include service on Saturdays and serve the city of Celina.
"The city is excited to offer more accessible public transit in McKinney by adding an additional service day," City Manager Paul Grimes said in a news release. "The expansion of Collin County Transit to Celina also broadens the variety of options for residents and enhances opportunities for [the] community."
Collin County Transit service hours will now operate Monday-Friday from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Trips can be booked 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, according to the
DCTA website.
The program, which launched
June 1, includes a subsidized taxi voucher program for residents of McKinney, Melissa, Princeton, Lowry Crossing and Celina who are 65 years old and older or disabled. Those eligible for the service will pay a fraction of the cost of the taxi services within Collin County.
