H-E- B/Central Market officials today announced that while two new Dallas stores will open, the former McKinney Sun Fresh Market location will likely not open as an H-E-B or Central Market.
H-E-B/Central Market in September purchased six Sun Fresh Market stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including one at 3001 Hardin Blvd, McKinney. The Sun Fresh Market store subsequently closed.
“We purchased the entire package of properties in order to acquire the Midway Road and McKinney and Lemmon Avenue locations,” said Mabrie Jackson, director of public affairs at Central Market in a news release. “We have since sold the Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road location to Lincoln Properties, and plans for the remaining three stores are under evaluation. However, these will likely be sold or leased to other retail tenants.”
The announcement likely nixed potential plans for a Central Market or H-E-B at former Sun Fresh Market locations
in Grapevine.
Central Market operates seven stores in North Texas.
