At 10 p.m. Oct. 1, the city McKinney will spray a one-mile radius of McKinney Fire Station #3, 4269 Eldorado Parkway, after a positive mosquito pool for West Nile Virus was confirmed.

Signs will be posted at major intersections and information and a map of the spray area will be posted on the city’s website.

Residents should bring their pets inside and stay indoors during the spray period.

Residents who do not want to spray near their home should contact city of McKinney Health Compliance at 972-547-7447 by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Take precautions to avoid bites and help eliminate mosquito egg-laying sites by draining standing water around homes and neighborhoods, using a mosquito repellant with DEET, and staying indoors at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
