Liberty Music Academy is now open in McKinney, offering music and voice lessons at reduced cost to lower-income families.

The academy's owner and founder, 17-year-old Anthony Olague, said he started Liberty Music Academy with the goal of helping low-income families give their children the same opportunities as families with greater financial stability.

Liberty Music Academy is able to offer lessons at a lower costs to select students through scholarships and financial aid. Students must apply and meet certain financial and academic requirements.

Olaque partnered with Ovation Performing Arts Academy and shares its studio space at 301 W. Louisiana St., McKinney. Liberty Music Academy began offering music lessons there Jan. 1.

Liberty Music offers both in-home and in-studio music lessons for piano, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, ukulele, violin, clarinet and flute, as well as voice lessons.
